Go Torry: 15th June 24
This event was a collaboration between Torry People’s Assembly and Friends of St Fitticks Park. It aimed to build on the networking done during and since the Assembly, to showcase some of the great things that are already happening in Torry - and some that are planned.
Supported by NESCAN’s Just Transition Communities Project and taking place across three venues in Torry, the event focused on three main areas:
St Fittick’s Park celebrated the opening of the Outdoor Classroom, an initiative of Friends of St Fittick’s which was supported by some of the in depth follow up work done to connect community initiatives after the assembly. The day featured tree planting, arts workshops and a visit from St Fittick himself :)
The Bridge Centre celebrated and raise awareness around housing issues in Torry - specially looking at the RAAC crisis and the potential for the new Community Retrofit project to address the issue by incorporating RAAC repairs with retrofit work that will need to be done to every house in Scotland over the coming years.
Tullos Community Centre celebrated local arts and by hosted a writing workshop led by Emer Morris and showcased the Torry Dancers performing contemporary and traditional pieces.
The day was a great success, bringing together lots of the things we love most about Torry and building community in the process.
